ArchivalResource

George Gordon, Lord Byron letter, 1819, April 27.

The letter presents Byron's request for corrections in Galignani's Messenger; he notes that in more than one issue of the journal the story "The Vampire" is attributed to him, but states that he is not the author of the work. He also says that the journal printed an account of his "residence in the Island of Mitylene" and says that he has sailed past it but never resided there, and did not write this account.
